Your newsroom writes great stories. Is anyone finding them?

I help publishers grow search traffic, from breaking news and Google Discover to evergreen content and AI search.

I'm Cristian, a NYC-based SEO consultant. I've led SEO for Microsoft's MSN Spain and worked with some of Spain's biggest publishers: Prensa Ibérica, 20minutos, Grupo Zeta and La Información.

Search is changing faster than newsrooms can

For years, publishers could count on Google to send readers their way. A story broke, it got indexed, it ranked, people clicked.

That deal is fraying.

Google's AI Overviews now answer many questions directly, with fewer clicks to the source. Readers ask ChatGPT what happened instead of searching. Discover traffic swings wildly from week to week. And the evergreen content that used to pay the bills is up against a flood of AI-written pages.

Meanwhile, most newsrooms still treat SEO as something you bolt onto a story after it's written, if there's time.

What I've done

Microsoft's MSN Spain

I led EMEA SEO strategy and execution alongside the editorial team, and trained journalists to write for both readers and search engines, without dumbing down the journalism.

Onmeda.es (Aufeminin group): 200K → 1M+ monthly users in nine months

I grew this health publisher from 200,000 to more than 1 million monthly users in nine months.

Spain's leading news groups

I've worked on SEO at Prensa Ibérica, 20minutos, Grupo Zeta and La Información: daily newspapers, national news sites and regional networks, each with its own pace and newsroom culture.

Featured in El País

I've also contributed to El País, so I've seen journalism from the writer's side too.

I've tied search to revenue.

At Compado I owned SEO for 100+ domains generating $2M+ a year in organic revenue. I built CompraMejor.es from 0 to €400K in 18 months from organic traffic alone, and turned two Softonic editorial sites from loss-making to €480K+ a year.

How I work with publishers

01

SEO built into the newsroom, not bolted on

Simple habits and checklists that reporters and editors actually use: headlines, structure, timing and linking that help a story get found without changing what makes it good.

02

Breaking news and Google Discover

Get stories indexed fast, show up in Top Stories, and understand what drives Discover traffic instead of guessing.

03

Evergreen content that keeps earning

Find the guides, explainers and topic pages that bring in readers for years, and keep them up to date.

04

Technical foundations at scale

Archives with hundreds of thousands of articles, paywalls, tag pages, AMP leftovers and site migrations, handled so search engines spend their time on what matters.

05

A plan for AI search

Make sure your journalism is the source AI tools quote and link to, and track where it shows up.

06

Training your journalists

Practical workshops for reporters and editors, based on the training I ran at MSN.

Publishers of every size

Based in Brooklyn

New York is the media capital of the US. I'm based in Brooklyn and work with publishers across the city, in your time zone and, when it helps, in your newsroom.

Here's how to start

Send me your site and one line on what's worrying you most: falling search traffic, Discover swings, AI Overviews, or a newsroom that hasn't bought into SEO yet.

Within two business days, I'll reply with my honest take, and the first thing I'd look at.

I only take on a few clients at a time, because I also lead SEO and AI search in-house at Cockroach Labs. If it's not a fit, I'll tell you.
