Fill in your market once, and get 20 ready-to-run questions that mimic how your buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity for vendor shortlists. Copy all of them in one click, then check whether AI names your brand.

Fill in your market, copy every prompt

What the AI search prompt generator does

This tool turns a short form about your market into 20 questions your buyers are likely to ask an AI tool. They are the questions where a software company wants to be named: top tools in a category, comparisons, alternatives, tools for a budget, a team size or a specific problem.

You fill in up to 18 fields on one form. Every prompt updates as you type, and one click copies them all, ready to paste into ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or a spreadsheet. You can also copy a single prompt or download the list as a text or CSV file.

It runs in your browser. I don't see what you type, and it is saved only on your own device.

Why track prompts if you want to be visible and cited

Buyers now ask an AI tool for a shortlist before they ever open a search result. If your brand is not in that answer, it is not in the shortlist, and no ranking report will show you that.

You can't improve what you never test. A fixed set of prompts gives you a baseline: do AI tools name you, do they recommend you or only mention you, which competitors do they name instead, and which sources do they cite? Those sources are the pages and sites you need to be on.

The same prompts also work as a content brief. Each one is a question your pages should answer clearly: who you are for, how you compare, what you cost, what you integrate with. Pages that answer these questions plainly are easier for search engines to rank and for AI tools to quote.

I can't promise a prompt test will get you named. It shows you where you stand and what to fix first.

How to use the tool in four steps

    1. Fill in the form. Start with category, use case and audience. Add your product, a main competitor and a brand buyers want alternatives to. Press "Fill example" to see how it looks.
    2. Check the prompts. Highlighted placeholders are fields you left empty. Fill them, or turn on "Only prompts with every field filled".
    3. Copy all prompts. One click copies the whole set. Paste it into a doc or spreadsheet so you reuse the exact same wording each time.
    4. Run them and log the answers. Paste each prompt into the AI tools your buyers use and note what you find. The next section shows how.

    After you copy the prompts

    01

Run each prompt in more than one tool

Try ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews or AI Mode. They use different sources, so you can be named in one and missing in another.

    02

Score every answer the same way

Use four levels: not mentioned, mentioned, recommended, and cited with a link to your site. Add the competitors named and the sources cited.

    03

Repeat each prompt a few times

AI answers vary from run to run. Run each prompt three times or more, and look at how often you appear, not at one answer.

    04

Fix the gaps, then test again

Where competitors are named and you are not, look at the sources the answer cites. Those are the pages to improve or get a mention on. Then rerun the same prompts in two to four weeks.

Want this run for you every week? Doing it by hand works for a first check. To run the same prompts on a schedule across several AI tools, I use LLM Pulse (this is an affiliate link, so I earn a commission if you sign up, at no cost to you). I explain why in Why LLM Pulse?

What each prompt tells you about your AI visibility

Each template tests a different moment in the buyer's research. Together they cover discovery, comparison, alternatives, price, fit, integrations and proof.

How to get better prompts from the form

    What this tool can't do

The prompts are templates, not search data. They don't tell you how many people ask each question, and I can't tell you which prompt your buyers use most. Check them against your sales calls and support questions.

One run is one sample. AI tools change answers by model, location, account and week. Treat the result as a trend you track, not a ranking you hold.

The tool doesn't run the prompts for you or read the answers. You do that by hand, or with a tracker.

Who gets the most from it

In-house SEOs and marketers at software companies who need a first AI visibility baseline. Founders who want to know if ChatGPT names them. Agency SEOs building prompt sets for clients. Anyone who needs a repeatable list of questions without writing 20 prompts from scratch.

I built this from the same prompt sets I use when I check AI visibility for B2B software companies, including my work at Cockroach Labs.

    AI search prompt generator FAQ

What is an AI search prompt template?

It is a question with blanks in it, like "What are the top {{category}} for {{use-case}}?". You fill the blanks with your own market, and you get real questions buyers might ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google's AI Overviews. You then run those questions to see whether AI tools name your brand.

    Is this tool free?

Yes. It is free, needs no signup and runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server. Your answers are saved only in your own browser so they are there when you come back.

How do I use the prompts to track my AI visibility?

Run each prompt in the AI tools your buyers use, and write down whether your brand is not mentioned, mentioned, or recommended, and whether your site is cited as a source. Repeat on the same prompts every week or two. The trend matters more than any single answer.

Do I need to fill in all 18 fields?

No. Any field you leave empty stays as a placeholder, like {{brand}}, so you can see which prompts are still incomplete. Turn on "Only prompts with every field filled" to copy just the finished ones.

Will these prompts get my brand into ChatGPT answers?

No, and no tool can promise that. The prompts show you where you stand today. Getting named takes pages AI tools can read, content that answers these questions, and mentions on sources they trust. The prompts tell you where to start.

Why do AI answers change when I run the same prompt twice?

AI tools do not return a fixed ranking. Answers can change by run, by model, by location and over time. Run each prompt a few times, and judge your visibility by how often you appear, not by one answer.

How is this different from keyword research?

Keyword research shows what people type into Google. These prompts mimic how buyers phrase questions to an AI tool: longer, more specific, and often a comparison or a shortlist request. They do not come with search volume, so treat them as a test set, not as demand data.

Can I track these prompts automatically?

You can run them by hand for free. If you want them run on a schedule across several AI tools, a tracker does that for you. I use LLM Pulse for this work, and the link on this page is an affiliate link.

Not sure what your results mean?
